There has been a spate of vandalism on the farm at Penshurst with farm gear damaged, a fire in the lambing pens and the gate being damaged. Also to compound issues the farm has a bug / infection that causes deformaties in lambs and calves and they want no possibility of cross contamination.
Therefore, the farmer has needed to take action and has added a lock to the main gate.
With the very mild weather, the flying field appears to be getting a lot more use than would be usual for this time of the year and whilst the lack of access is inconvenient for us, these issues are obviously a big problem for the farmer. .
There will be a pad lock on the gate in the station car park. We will need to issue keys for this padlock in due course. This gate must be locked when you leave the field. Whilst flying you may leave the gate unlocked as long as the padlock and chain are locked to the post. We will also add a combination lock on the small gate where we access through to our site field.
We would ask you to be patient and we will try to get back to normal as soon as possible. In the mean time, if want to fly and you're feeling fit, just as you enter the narrow part of Station Hill by the junction, park by the first gate (not in front of it) and it is a 5 minute walk across to the patch.
Iin the near future we will be asking for volunteers to spend a morning laying some hardcore by the second gate to try to improve access to the patch. So if you are up for it please get in touch with a committee member.
